the squashed cockroach, the frenzy of feasting ants, black and beady.
when the broom hit
all the living things were ignited
like atoms instantly hot.
she dropped the meal in the dirt behind the kitchen
and the chaos dissipated
the source of death was gone
to be dealt with in nature’s quarters.
i love the sound of rain
from the shelter of a warm and dry place
i’m rediscovering
my love of cereal
taxi driver
plucking chin hairs
at a red light
at one point in your life
you’ll just hate being the mediocre version of yourself. and through that, you’ll find the courage and bravery and north star to be your best self.
and then you’ll walk into the next moment, and have to do it all over again.
